NAH advocates quick passage of water regulation bill

The Nigerian Association of Hydrogeologists (NAH) has called for quick passage of the National Water Regulation Bill which is currently before the National Assembly as part of ways to strengthen the governance structure in the water sector.
The Association made this call yesterday at it 29th annual conference of the Nigerian Hydrogeologists, in Ilorin, Kwara state.
The association in a statement signed by the assistant director, press and public relations, Federal Ministry of Public Relations, Mr Oise D. Johnson, stated that the theme for this year’s conference, “Strategies to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the water sector” is coming at the right time as the nation grasps with the effects of climate change on water resources.
The National President, Mr. Ehidiamhen Olumese, during his address, said that the objective of the conference is aimed at contributing to the attainment of United Nations’ Goal 6 of Sustainable Development Goals on water. “The conference will be devoted to contribute to main policy issues concerning water resources “he said.
He added that the conference will also look at climate change and inter- basin water transfer, surface and ground water resources management, environmental monitoring and restoration and hydrogeology aspects of infrastructure and construction.
