Let’s be more prayerful for Nigeria, Obi tells LP faithful

Abuja The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians to continue to pray more so as to ensure the country works to enable her attend to the challenges of the people.

Obi stated this in Abuja on Tuesday at the solidarity visit by the FCT chapter of the Labour Party to the National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure.

The former LP presidential candidate said elections had come and gone, adding that what was needed now was how Nigerians would feed.

“I have heard all you said about the upcoming FCT election and I want to assure you that we will be there with you,” he said.

Obi called on the national chairman of the party to keep the reconciliation spirit in the party alive.

“Elections have come and gone, we are now talking about how Nigerians will eat. That is the most critical thing for me now. We want to talk about food, caring for Nigerians. We want to talk about the security of the people; we want to talk about education.

“If you have been following me, you will see that I’m going around everyday talking about education, health, talking about water and that is important to me until the next election. We will talk about elections, for now, let’s talk about how we are going to survive because we politicians always focus on elections.

“No. I disagree with that. Let’s focus on human beings and when they survive, we can focus on elections. So let us be more prayerful for Nigeria because if Nigeria is working, Labour Party will work, but if Nigeria fails, there won’t be Labour Party, there wouldn’t be any other party. So let’s focus on Nigeria and see that Nigeria works. So remain prayerful for our country and do the right thing,” he said.

Speaking at the occasion, National Chairman, Abure said, “A new Nigeria must come; a Nigeria that works for the people, a Nigeria that is interested in the welfare of the people, it’s possible and I’m sure we can achieve it. Labour Party will start that process to achieve it.”

He stated that the party would “deal more with right thinking Nigerians who believe in the vision of a new Nigeria. Wherever they are, we’ll identify them and bring them to the party.”

Abure said he had made sacrifices for the party in the last 22 years, expressing delight that the sacrifices paid off in the last general elections which he claimed LP won.

He said the party was ready to re-enact the same electoral victory in future elections and called on the aggrieved members to unite with a view to winning future elections in the country.
