AFN, NAPHER- SD mourn Prof. Ojeme

The board of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) and the Nigeria Association of Physical Health Education, Recreation, Dance and Sports( NAPHER-SD) have expressed deep shock over the news of the sudden death of Professor Emmanuel Ojeme.

Ojeme, one of the refined persons in Nigeria’s athletics history died on Monday in the evening.

He was a former President of Nigeria Association of Physical Health Education, Recreation, Dance and Sports (Napher-SD) and it’s representative on the current AFN board.

Speaking on his sudden demise, President of AthIetics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Chief Tonobok Okowa described the news of Professor Ojeme’s death as shocking.

“I just got calls from someone very close to him that our dear Professor Ojeme is no more. It’s a shock to me. I am still trying to reach out to his wife and children to know exactly what happened,” Okowa said.

“Professor Ojeme has been a great father to us in the Athletics Family. It is so sad his death is coming at a time when we are putting heads together on how to prepare our athletes to make a great impact at the Paris Olympics Games. We will surely miss him,” Okowa stated.

Before his demise, Professor Ojeme was the chairman of the Education and Youth Development Committee and a member of the Ethnics, Disciplinary and Safeguarding Committee of the AFN.

Meanwhile, the President of the Nigeria Association for Physical, Health Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance, Professor Florence Bola Adeyanju, described the death of late Professor Ojeme as a colossal loss to the Nigerian sports fraternity and the continent in general.

”The death of Professor Ojeme is a colossal loss to the Nigerian sports fraternity and the continent in general and my prayer is that the Almighty God will give the entire family of the deceased and NAPHER-SD worldwide the fortitude to bear the irreparable and irreplaceable loss”, she stressed
